89% of patients hospitalized with coronavirus at Famagusta General Hospital, which functions as a Reference Hospital, have not been vaccinated, said Amalia Hatzigiannis, Scientific Director of Larnaca – Famagusta General Hospitals.
She added that "66 patients are currently being treated at the Reference Hospital, 6 of whom are in the Increased Care Unit as they need closer monitoring. The youngest patient is 32 years of age and the eldest 92 years of age, while the average age of the patients is 60 years".
Yesterday, she continued, "there were several patient admissions to the Hospital. 89% of patients hospitalized in the public hospital have not been vaccinated against the virus."
In response to a question, Mrs Hatzigiannis made a "warm appeal to all - in view of the celebrations of the 15th of August to observe faithfully the protection measures against the crown, so as not to observe the phenomenon of outbreaks".
On the one, she noted, "we are doing well and there seems to be a decrease in cases," adding that "but at the same time there is congestion in the Intensive Care Units."
She also noted that "in order to maintain the stabilisation of the cases observed in recent days, everyone should pay particular attention over the weekend of 15 August. Faithful adherence to the measures and vaccination to be continued by all ages are the only weapons we have against Covid-19," she noted.
He also said that 16 patients are being treated at Larnaca General Hospital, one of them in MAF, while the Eden Rehabilitation Centre in Tersefanou is home to 112 people who will remain until their complete recovery.
