VACCINATION PROCEDURE FOR THOSE AGED 16 & 17

 Filenews 9 July 2021

With regard to vaccination of persons aged 16 and 17, the Ministry of Health notes the following clarifications on the procedure to be followed by beneficiaries:

  1. Parents/legal guardians, as well as children's Personal Physicians, can arrange appointments for the minor through the Vaccination Portal by selecting a Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine as the only vaccine currently approved by the European Medicines Agency for administration to people under 18 years of age.
  2. When coming to the Vaccination Centres for the administration of the 1st dose of the vaccine, minors should necessarily provide the following evidence:
  • Written Consent Form of Parents/Guardians for Vaccination of a Minor with Vaccine for COVID-19 signed by both parents/guardians, unless legally (with the submission of a court decision) this is not necessary. The Form should be delivered to the Vaccination Centres upon arrival.
  • Identification document of the minor (e.g. ID, passport, Foreigner Registration Card, etc.).
  • If the minor is accompanied by the parents/guardians (or one of them), they should present an identification document. The Form shall be presented to the officers of the Vaccination Centre for identification purposes.
  1. Upon arrival at the Vaccination Centre for the administration of the 2nd dose, minors should provide an identity card or other official identification document for the purpose of verifying their data.
  2. During vaccination during both the 1st dose and the 2nd dose, the minor may be accompanied by another adult person other than his parents/legal guardians. In this case, the relevant health professionals at the Vaccination Centre will contact the parent/legal guardian by phone before vaccination to confirm that the adult person accompanying the child has been designated by the parent/legal guardian.

Strict adherence to the above is recommended in order to avoid any delay in attendance and stay at the Vaccination Center.
