882 NEW CASES, FRIDAY

The Ministry of Health announces that today 9 July 2021 there have been no deaths of patients from coronavirus, while 882 (993 yesterday Thursday) are the new positive cases. At the same time 117 patients (107 on Thursday) COVID-19 are hospitalized, of which 30 are in serious condition.

specifically:

-No deaths of patients with a final cause of death of COVID-19 were recorded today, so the total number of deaths remains 380.

-117 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 30 of whom are in serious condition.

-A total of 62,161 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

-882 (positivity rate: 1.42%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 82,463.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 380, of which:

  • 254 men (67%), and
  • 126 women (33%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77.3 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 117 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in OKYY hospitals, 30 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 30 patients in serious condition, 12 are intubated, one is hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 17 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 62,161 diagnoses currently carried out, 6,873 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 55,288 using the antigen rapid test, 882 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 5 cases from 3,110 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 157 cases out of 3,431 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 26 cases from 332 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 27 cases from 1,042 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 667 cases from 54,246 samples examined using the antigen rapid test.
