FIGHTER WINS THE BATTLE EVERY DAY

Filenews 10 July 2021 - by Evangelia Sizopoulou

He was found injured in an orchard that was nearly saved from last weekend's devastating wildfires. From the unbearable pains he had, he wouldn't let people near him and he was trying to bite. But with the patience and perseverance of firefighters and hunters who helped rescue him and volunteer Christiana Mandriotou, the dog has a second chance at life.

It was named after Mrs. Mandriotou, Fighter, which means fighter. A name that suits him because for a few days now he has been fighting every day to emerge victorious from this difficult and painful ordeal. Every day and progress. Not only in the state of his health with his burns but also in his socialization, as it is a phobic dog that is wary of humans. From her experience in animal rescue and care, volunteer Christiana Mandriotou, combined with the bad situation in which Fighter was found (he was underweight and full of parasites), believes that he did not belong to any family and was not lost in the fires, but is a dog that grew up in the street. Besides, he doesn't have a microchip, no ID.

The first aid he received was life-saving. The vet found that Fighter has severe burns to all four of his paws, abdomen and one eye. After being hospitalized for one night in the veterinary clinic, the next day he was transferred to Mrs. Mandriotou's house, where he began the arduous task of rehabilitation. Creams, medicines, wound care are now on the daily schedule, with Mrs. Mandriotou stating that in the first two days he did not move from his cot, on the third day with her help he managed to stand on his feet for a while while the next day he began to take steps and walk on his own. Please note that the dog is in the care of Mrs. Mandriotou and Pets2Adopt.
