A meeting between the Prefect of Paphos, Mary Lambrou and a delegation of ACPL Paphos, consisting of the Provincial Secretary, Andrea Fakonte, the MP, Valentino Fakonitis and the member of the Central Committee, Maria Ioannidos, took place at the offices of the Paphos Provincial Administration.
The ACPL Paphos delegation has raised its concerns about the worrying dimensions of the fire phenomenon in Paphos province in recent days.
The Prefect of Paphos informed the delegation of the damage caused to houses and property in the area of Tala as well as to the other communities of Paphos where fires occurred.
During the meeting, the ACPL delegation was also informed of the projects under way, as well as of the projects included in the Ministry of the Interior's budget for the current year and are expected to start construction soon.
In addition, reports have been made of the efforts being made to raise funds from the Structural Funds with a view to improving the quality of the communities of Paphos province by creating conditions for development.
At the heart of the debate were the operational problems arising from the transition phase of the digital transformation of the service, as well as the under-staffing problems which are just around the corner due to the retirement of a significant number of staff and the failure to fill public service jobs.
The two sides exchanged views and suggestions aimed at better serving citizens, and that the new reform of local government will work effectively for the benefit of local communities, creating conditions for evolution and transition in the modern age we live in.
