A request of 15 years is implemented with the start of the work of the new Haemodialysis Unit at Paphos Hospital.
The Director of the hospital's Nephrological Clinic, Dr Lakis Yukas, said that the construction of the new dialysis unit that will be housed in a separate building next to the chapel of Paphos Hospital.
It is a state-of-the-art unit of European standards, he stressed, which will be completed within 18 months.
"The project will include outside the Dialysis Unit, outpatient clinics, Short Care Units and a small surgery for micro-interventions such as the introduction of central catheters," Dr Yukas continues. "It will also include a peritoneal clearance unit that until now does not exist in Paphos province and a separate dialysis unit for infectious patients who until now do not have access to the Paphos and Limassol Hospitals".
The existing Dialysis Unit, he stressed, is housed in a very small area which creates problems due to the limited space.
