849 NEW CASES, SUNDAY

The Ministry of Health announces that today, July 11, 2021:

  • No deaths of patients with a final cause of death on COVID-19 were recorded today, so the total number of deaths remains 380.
  • 139 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 34 of whom are in serious condition.
  • A total of 63,665 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
  • 849 (positivity rate: 1.33%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 84,272.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 380, of which:

  • 254 men (67%), and
  • 126 women (33%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77.3 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 139 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE HOSPITALS, 34 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 34 patients in serious condition, 13 are intubated, one is hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 20 are in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 63,665 diagnoses currently carried out, 5,614 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 58,051 using the antigen rapid test, 849 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 5 cases from 3,622 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 63 cases from 1,609 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 14 cases from 224 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 3 cases from 148 samples taken under the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and special teams control through public health clinics.
  • 28 cases from 735 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 736 cases from 57,316 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 11 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
