33 NEW CASES SUNDAY

The Ministry of Health announces that today, 13 June 2021, no deaths from coronavirus were recorded, while 33 are in total new cases.

specifically:

- No deaths of patients with a final cause of death of COVID-19 were recorded today, so the total number of deaths remains 373.

- 32 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 12 of whom are in serious condition.

- A total of 43,151 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

- 33 (positivity rate: 0.08%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test, bringing the total number of cases to 73,190.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 373, of which:

- 250 men (67%), and

- 123 women (33%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 32 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE O.C.P. hospitals, 12 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 12 patients in serious condition, eight are intubated and four are in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 43,151 diagnoses currently carried out, 5,572 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 37,579 using the antigen rapid test, 33 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 3 cases from 103 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 2 cases from 3,884 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 6 cases from 1,211 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 22 cases from 37,287 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 89 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 285 samples taken under the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
  • 292 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
