LOCKDOWN AND VACCINATIONS REDUCED POSITIVITY RATE

 Filenews 14 May 2021

A significant decrease is observed in the weekly positivity rate, as shown by the data of the National Report on coronavirus, over the last 14 days.

In particular, through the data of the rapid test programme there is a significant decrease which reaches 50% in the week of 3-9 May while in the week we are going through, it reaches up to 60-70% compared to the week after Easter.

Weekly Positivity Rate

A downward trend is observed in all provinces, in terms of the weekly positivity rate which has fallen to 0.6% in the week of 3-9 May from 1.2% in the week of 26 April to 2 May, while this week it is moving to 0.2%. The reproduction number is estimated at approximately 0.7.

A significant decrease is recorded in all indicators, including the cumulative impact of 14 days (<700/100,000).

The downward trend observed, according to the data of the National Report, seems to be attributed to the combination of lockdown and vaccination, which seems to have accelerated the declining course of the phenomenon.

The same downward trend is observed in the positivity rate in nursing homes, where the rate returns to 0.3% after an increase recorded in the period 12-25 April.
