The report of deaths with the underlying cause of COVID-19 disease, for the period March - May 2021, was issued by the Ministry of Health. According to the data, the highest rate of deaths of people positive for COVID-19, with the underlying cause of death covid-19, concerns people with permanent residence in Limassol Province.
In particular, by 12 May 2021, 409 deaths of people diagnosed with COVID-19 have been reported. 67% are for men (273 deaths) and the remaining 33% for women (136 deaths).
Of the 409 deaths, 342 (84%), had an underlying cause of COVID-19.
In addition, one in five deaths occurs in the 80-84 age group. The median age of people who ended up with the underlying cause of COVID-19 has fallen from 82 years in 2020 to 78 years in 2021. In December 2020 and January 2021 the highest number of deaths of people positive for COVID-19 has been recorded since the beginning of the pandemic, with the figure reaching 42% of the total number of deaths (85 and 86 deaths respectively). This is followed by April 2021 with 15% (63).

(125. 37%).
(57.17%), Paphos Province (23.7%), Famagusta Province (14.4%), while 4 deaths
have an Undefined Province of Permanent Residence (1%).
Limassol is presented with the highest mortality rate per 100000
population (50.3 deaths per 100000 population). It is followed by Larnaca with 38.3 deaths
per 100000 population and Nicosia with 34.4 deaths per 100000 population.
