EU: REDUCTIONS ONLY IN CYPRUS AND SLOVAKIA FOR PRODUCER PRICES IN INDUSTRY

In March 2021, producer prices in industry increased by 1.1% in the euro area and 1.2% in the EU, compared to February 2021, according to estimates by Eurostat, the European Union's statistical office.

In February 2021, prices increased by 0.5% in the euro area and by 0.6% in the EU. In March 2021, compared to March 2020, they increased by 4.3% in the euro area and by 4.5% in the EU.

Prices in the euro area in March 2021, compared to February 2021, increased by 2.0% in the energy sector, by 1.3% for intermediate goods, by 0.8% for non-durable consumer goods, by 0.3% for capital goods and by 0.2% for durable consumer goods.

Prices in the non-energy industry as a whole increased by 0.9%. In the EU, prices increased by 1.9% in the energy sector, by 1.5% for intermediate goods, by 0.8% for non-durable consumer goods, by 0.3% for capital goods and by 0.2% for durable consumer goods. Prices in the non-energy industry as a whole increased by 0.9%.

The highest increases were in Ireland (+ 7.9%), Spain (+ 2.5%) and Portugal (+ 2.3%), while the only decrease was observed in Estonia (-1.6%).

Prices in the euro area in March 2021, compared to March 2020, increased by 10.3% in the energy sector, by 4.4% for intermediate goods, by 1.4% for durable consumer goods, by 1.1% for capital goods and by 0.4% for non-resilient consumer goods. Prices in the non-energy industry as a whole increased by 2.3%.

In the EU, prices increased by 10.9% in the energy sector, by 4.6% for intermediate goods, by 1.6% for durable consumer goods, by 1.1% for capital goods and by 0.4% for non-durable consumer goods. Prices in the non-energy industry as a whole increased by 2.5%.

The highest increases in producer prices in the industry occurred in Ireland (+ 21.2%), Denmark (+ 10.4%) and Belgium (+ 9.3%), while the only decreases were observed in Cyprus (-3.0%) and Slovakia (-0.6%).
