Paphos becomes from 2021 the first Municipality of Cyprus to proceed to a total conversion of all parking spaces in the city. The Municipality of Paphos has launched a tender for the procurement of a "smart" parking management system, with an estimated cost of 1.2 million euros in order to achieve the ambitious target later this year.

The project involves the management of parking spaces using sensors in each location, in a total of 3300 parking spaces in organized spaces and parks.

"There will be a mobile phone app through which the public will be informed about the available parking spaces at points of interest, as well as the payment of parking fees," municipal officials say.

The implementation of the smart system will bring, they add, many great benefits, such as reducing unnecessary vehicle movements, facilitating the movement of citizens and visitors to the city, and reducing pollutants.
