PAPHOS PORT - NECESSARY PROJECTS AND . . . HASSLE

Filenews 5 April 2021 - by Dora Christodoulou

Work is continuing rapidly in the port area of Kato Paphos to create the new modern stops for public transport and the wider upgrading of the coastal front. The work is part of the large project of 7.6 million euros, which includes the creation of a modern network of public transport infrastructure and public hygiene in the areas of the Municipalities of Paphos and Geroskipou.

As mentioned by the Mayor of Paphos, Phaedon Phaedon, in the area of the port the existing transit station is abolished and transferred to the area Tombs of the Kings, while in the port new modern bus stops and sanitary areas are created. The parking spaces of the tourist buses are also demarcated and the two-way traffic of the vehicles to and from the port from Apostolos Pavlos Avenue will be restored.

A roundabout is also created in the area to solve traffic problems during peak periods. Asphalt parking is created with tree plantings in the piece next to the tavern "Hondros" and closes for excavations by the Department of Antiquities the earthy parking next to Panagia Portiotissa.

With regard to the large-scale improvement project in the heart of the tourist area, it is understandable that it will temporarily cause traffic problems and inconvenience to those passing through, but it is considered absolutely necessary for the permanent improvement of the operation and image of the coastal front of the city. That is why the municipal authority asks citizens and visitors for their understanding and respect for the arrangements that are being made temporarily, so that soon everyone will enjoy the new face of the area.
