The exercise under the name "ONISILOS-GIDEON" begins today and ends tomorrow, which concerns the control of the National Guard's air defence system, in cooperation with the Israeli Air Force, announced the Ministry of Defence.
According to an announcement by the Ministry of Justice, the exercise will take place in a large part of the land and airspace of the free territory of the Republic of Cyprus.
It includes training of personnel in the tactics and procedures for the deployment of anti-aircraft units, in the procedures of regular weapons control and transmission of information, training of air defence controllers in the procedures for covering area of responsibility and disclosure – trace clarification and regular aircraft control.
The implementation of the exercise is part of the Bilateral Military Cooperation Programme for 2021.
