The Cyprus Animal Party says that 4 April is dedicated to abandoned and stray animals, and adds that "although we welcome the positive efforts of the government and the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment in the field of animal welfare and protection, the situation cannot be described in beautiful and fine words, because, the numbers do not come out".
"Our image shows that all shelters in Cyprus are overcrowded with abandoned animals, and the majority of dogs hosted in these areas are hunting" he adds.
"We support and are always by the side of volunteers, rescue workers, animal lovers and sensitized citizens" he says, adding that on this occasion of World Abandoned Animal Day, "the President and members of the central committee of the Cyprus Animal Party will visit Limassol, Nicosia and Larnaca and stay in dog or cats shelters giving the message and picture of what these animals went through, with a view to promoting abandoned dogs and cats that need to be found and adopted by foster families."
