404 NEW CASES - SATURDAY

Cases decreased today compared to yesterday after 404 new positive cases were announced and no deaths were recorded.

In detail the announcement of the Ministry of Health:

The Ministry of Health announces that today, April 3, 2021:

  • No deaths of patients with a final cause of death on COVID-19 were recorded today, so the total number of deaths remains 261.
  • 199 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 45 are in serious condition.
  • A total of 50,343 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
  • 404 (positivity rate: 0.80%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 47,282.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded today. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 261, of which:

  • 173 men (66%), and
  • 88 women (34%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 199 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE O.C.P. hospitals, 45 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 45 patients critical, 21 are intubated, five are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 19 are in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 50,343 diagnoses currently carried out, 3,596 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 46,747 using the antigen rapid test, 404 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 66 cases from 89 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 2 cases from 1,287 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 78 cases from 1,854 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 15 cases from 309 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 11 cases from 461 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 232 cases from 46,286 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.

In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 57 samples taken as part of a re-examination carried out on the 7th day following the arrival of persons who have returned from the United Kingdom and are under mandatory restriction in hotels in the Republic.
