Two months late after complaints from lawyers that they had not been trained in time, the partial electronic registration of documents in the Courts, known as i-justice, which is part of e-justice, applies from today.
According to the Supreme Court, the pilot phase will be valid until April 29, 2021, only in the Courts and in relation to the Registers listed in the table below:
Nicosia District Court, Civil Jurisdiction, for the register of: Bankruptcy applications, general applications, debt relief orders, registration of foreign decisions, bankruptcy notices, requisition, companies, referrals, personal repayment plan.
For the Larnaca District Court, Civil Jurisdiction for the register of bankruptcy applications, general applications, debt relief orders, registration of foreign decisions, bankruptcy notices, requisition of companies, referrals, personal repayment plan. For the Famagusta District Court, Civil Jurisdiction, for the register of lawsuits. For the Administrative Court for review jurisdiction and the register of appeals. Registrations made by external users, in the Courts and Registers mentioned above, during the above period, will form part of the electronic file of each case, to which they will relate.
According to the Supreme Court, on the basis of Rule 6 (3), it is announced that:
- In relation to cases to be registered during the period referred to in paragraph 1, it will be possible for external users to register documents electronically or physically.
- Cases registered before the start of the pilot operation of the system will be updated exclusively by physical registration. Consequently, the "Transition" functionality offered by the system will not apply to cases registered before the start of the pilot operation of the system.
- The time of the pilot implementation of the system may be extended if necessary by a new Communication from the Supreme Court.
- External users are encouraged to use the option of online registration.
