PROTOCOLS FOR CRUISES BEING PREPARED

 Filenews 14 April 2021

Given the launch of cruises from the port of Limassol, as well as the inclusion of Cyprus in the destinations of other cruise ships, the Ministries of Transport and Health and the Deputy Ministries of Shipping and Tourism are in consultation to prepare the necessary health protocols.

In a statement to the CYPE, the Deputy Minister of Shipping, Vassilis Dimitriadis, said that there is coordination between the competent Ministry of Transport and the other stakeholders "to see how best to serve the ships, which will approach the port of Limassol, but also to offer the maximum possible service".

Already, "health protocols are also being prepared for our ports, on the basis of what applies to airports and perhaps somewhat differentiated, taking into account the characteristics relating to ports", he added.

In the next period, he continued, we will have a ready-to-publish protocol for ports, and noted that contacts are also being made with the managing company of the cruise terminal (DP World Limassol) "to plan these arrivals in the best possible way".

The port of Limassol has been chosen as a cruise base by Royal Caribbean and Celestyal Cruises, while three other cruise ships have included Cyprus in their stations, with the possibility of increasing this number open, since as the Secretary of State said "we expect another or two companies that are likely to include Cyprus in their itinerary".
