The Department of Health announced Monday that one person has died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 273. At the same time, 225 patients are hospitalized, 56 of whom are in serious condition.
A total of 58,097 molecular (PCR) and antigen rapid test tests were carried out and 528 new cases were identified with the positivity rate at 0.91%).
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
One person who has died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concerns:
- Male, aged 62, with an underlying disease, without a history of vaccination, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 273, of which:
- 180 men (66%), and
- 93 women (34%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 78 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 225 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in OKYP Hospitals, 56 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 56 patients critical, 28 are intubated, five are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 23 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 58,097 diagnoses currently carried out, 5,963 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 52,134 using the antigen rapid test, 528 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 98 cases from 784 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 8 cases from 3,456 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 76 cases from 1,147 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 22 cases from 368 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 3 cases from 208 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through public health clinics.
- 6 cases from 554 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 315 cases from 51,580 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.
