The Minister of Transport, Communications and Works Giannis Karousos, handed to Cyta President Rena Rouvita Panou, the specially designed stamp issued by the Cyprus Post Office for the 60th anniversary of Cyta.
As stated in a press release, the delivery took place at a simple event held on Monday, April 12, at Cyta Headquarters.
It is clarified that both the stamp and the accompanying First Day Of Release Envelope are items of collectible value.
In the delivery of the stamp, the Minister of Transport underlined that "Cyta is an organization that has made us all proud, with its services and with the immediacy in the adoption and provision of new telecommunications services", noting that the comparison of its telecommunications at the time with the now reflects Cyta's historical path, with achievements that many telecommunications organizations in larger countries than ours , they'd be jealous.
Mr Karousos also said that Cyta has made a major contribution to the recovery of the Cyprus economy since 1974. He added that with the continuous upgrades and the offer of new services by Cyta Cyprus has become a magnet for major companies that, among other things, were looking for upgraded services in the telecommunications sector.
He also noted that Cyta, in a highly competitive environment, continues to lead the way in improving and holding the lead in the telecommunications sector, something for which both the Agency's management and staff should be proud.
He wished that all organizations would have cyta's historical course as an example of imitation.
For her part, the President of Cyta stated that the issue of the anniversary stamp is an honour for the Agency and recognition of its timeless work and contribution to the place.
Ms. Rouvitha Panou said that also that "Cyta's 60th anniversary is not only an anniversary for the Agency, but also the starting point for new conquests in tomorrow's communication".
He added that with financial soundness and major infrastructure projects such as the Cyta Fiber fiber optic network and the first 5G commercial network, Cyta leads the digital future of Cyprus and is synonymous with the evolution in communication."
The Deputy Director of the Department of Postal Services Sophronis Tsiartas said that "the price attributed by issuing a stamp is inversely proportional to its size".
The anniversary stamp was issued on March 24th and is available for purchase by Cyprus Post. For its design, an award-winning photograph of Cyta pensioner Robert Antoniadis was used, depicting the landing site of the APHRODITE and ADONIS undersea cables in Larnaca in 1974.
