Paphos does not need smudged walls, insulting slogans, symbols and vulgar phrases on walls or buildings. Of course, there is no need to desecrate the statues that adorn it, nor to vandalize the historical importance of buildings, nor should we dispel what is beautiful and new we create.
This is pointed out by the municipal councillor of EDEC in the Municipality of Paphos, Philip Philippou, who spoke of unprecedented disrespect for the environment, parks, playgrounds and public property of the city in general.
"Paphos needs respect, education and culture," he says. "She needs a youth with a strong point of view and love for her city. So let the various organized people help us in this effort and show us that they really love sport, culture and above all our Paphos.
You're not going to smudge your town to make any statement. Graffiti does not have any effect against drugs, illegality, intimidation and xenophobia."
Mr. Philippou stresses that the young people of Paphos should not be turned into part of the disaster and calls on them to work with the municipal authority for a better Paphos.
