410 NEW CASES AND TWO DEATHS, Monday

Two people have died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 245, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

Also as noted:

- 217 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 51 of whom are in serious condition.

- A total of 43,173 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

-      410 (positivity rate: 0.95%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test, bringing the total number of cases to 42,628.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

The two people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:

-      Woman, aged 82, with underlying illnesses, who ended up in Famagusta General Hospital.

-       Man, aged 90, with underlying diseases, who ended up in Famagusta General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 245, of which:

- 162 men (66%), and

- 83 women (34%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 217 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE HOSPITALS, 51 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 51 patients critical, 21 are intubated, four are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 26 are in an Increased Care Unit.

Of the 43,173 laboratory diagnoses carried out today, 3,346 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 39,827 using the antigen rapid test, 410 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 146 cases from 784 samples taken through the process of tracing close contacts (primary contacts) cases.
  • 12 cases from 1,449 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 18 cases from 655 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 22 cases from 335 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 1 case of 122 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and Special Teams Control through Public Health Clinics.
  • 11 cases from 1,285 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 200 cases from 38,542 samples examined using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.

In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 1 sample taken as part of a re-examination carried out on the 7th day following the arrival of persons who have returned from the United Kingdom and are under mandatory restriction in hotels in the Republic.

200 positive results in the crown were obtained today from 38,542 samples, tested using the antigen rapid test, through the Ministry of Health programme.

As shown in the table published by the Ministry of Health, Limassol remains more epidemiologically burdened, followed by Paphos and the free Famagusta.
