Two deaths from coronavirus and 374 new cases, the Ministry of Health announced today. The total number of deaths has now climbed to 240.
At the same time 205 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 37 of whom are in serious condition. A total of 41,269 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
374 (positivity rate: 0.91%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 39,651.
Here are today's results in detail.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The two people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:
- A man, aged 49, with an underlying disease, who ended up today at Limassol General Hospital.
- Woman, aged 88, without mentioning underlying diseases in the Medical Certificate of Causes of Death, which ended today at Larnaca General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 240, of which:
- 159 men (66%), and
- 81 women (34%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 205 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE O.C.P. hospitals, 37 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 37 patients critical, 19 are intubated, five are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 13 are in an Increased Care Unit.
In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:
C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 41,269 laboratory diagnoses currently carried out, 2,327 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 38,942 using the antigen rapid test, 374 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 105 cases from 747 samples taken through the process of tracing close contacts (primary contacts) cases.
- 3 cases from 3 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 43 cases from 1,155 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 3 cases from 214 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 6 cases from 175 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories.
- 214 cases from 38,767 samples tested using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.
In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 208 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.

Of these, 214 cases were detected from 38,767 samples tested using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.
