115 NEW CASES, ONE DEATH - SUNDAY

The Ministry of Health announces that today, February 7, 2021 a person has died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 212.

  • 109 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 33 of whom are in serious condition.
  • A total of 40,974 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
  • 115 (positivity rate: 0.28%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test, bringing the total number of cases to 31,759.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

One person who has died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concerns:

  • Man, aged 94, with underlying illnesses, who ended up in Famagusta General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 212, of which:

  • 143 men (67%), and
  • 69 women (33%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 109 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE HOSPITALS, 33 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 33 patients critical, 21 are intubated, three are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and nine in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 40,974 laboratory diagnoses currently carried out, 852 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 40,122 using the antigen rapid test, 115 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 27 cases from 206 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 6 cases from 268 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 5 cases from 157 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 1 case of 221 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and Special Teams Control through Public Health Clinics.
  • 76 cases from 40,092 samples tested using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.

In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 30 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories.
