Particular attention is recommended to the public by the Police, to protect against fraudulent phone calls from foreign countries and may aim to extract money from citizens who receive telephone calls.
According to some reports made to the Police, in recent times, citizens have received missed phone calls from unknown telephone numbers from foreign countries. The purpose of similar telephone calls from foreign countries that have been made in the past, it was found, was to force citizens who received the calls to call the suspect telephone numbers by telephone, resulting in an overcharge of their telephone bills and the perpetrators being distracted by telephone charges.
It is not excluded that telephone calls from foreign countries that are made during this period of time are malicious for the purpose of extracting money. The Police Recommends special attention to the public who receive phone calls from such unknown telephone numbers.
If citizens have already called the telephone numbers, after a missed call they received, they are encouraged to contact their telephone provider, to check the charge of their telephone bill and where money is found to be posted, to make a complaint to the Police Station of the area where they live.
