ASTRAZENECA'S APPLICATION TO EMA FOR APPROVAL OF ITS VACCINE

Application by Astrazeneca to the European Medicines Agency for approval of its vaccine against coronavirus.

Astrazeneca has applied to the European Medicines Agency for approval of its vaccine against coronavirus.

The Agency informed today, Tuesday, that it has received this application for approval of the use of the vaccine, developed by Astrazeneca in collaboration with the University of Oxford.

It is noted that the vaccine has already been given the 'green light' for use in the UK, with the first vaccinations already under way.

It is noted that Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna vaccines have already been approved for use in the EU.

Astrazeneca had just announced that it was starting a collaboration with the Russian research centre Gamaleya, which developed the Sputnik V vaccine.
