569 NEW CASES, AND ONE DEATH, TUESDAY

One person has died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 134, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

Even:

  • 179 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 50 are in serious condition.
  • A total of 14,309 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
  • 569 new cases of COVID-19 disease were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test, bringing the total number of cases to 25,208.

Here are today's results in detail:

    A. Deaths from COVID-19:

    One person who has died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concerns:

    • Woman, aged 84, with underlying diseases, who was being treated at Famagusta General Hospital.

    Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 134, of which:

    • 89 men (66%), and
    • 45 women (34%).

    The average age of the deceased from the disease is 80 years.

    B. Hospitalized:

    A total of 179 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE OKYP hospitals, 50 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

    Of the 50 patients critical, 25 are intubated, six are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 19 in an Increased Care Unit.

    C. Positive events COVID -19(PCR test and rapid antigen test):

    Of the 14,309 laboratory diagnoses currently carried out, 3,420 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 10,889 using the antigen rapid test, 569 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

    • 151 cases from 819 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
    • 4 cases from 612 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
    • 36 cases from 1,170 samples taken through a private initiative.
    • 1 case of 212 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and Special Teams Control through Public Health Clinics.
    • 21 cases from 449 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
    • 356 cases from 10,889 samples examined using the antigen rapid test.

    In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

    • 158 samples taken as part of a re-examination carried out on the 7th day following the arrival of persons who have returned from the United Kingdom and are under mandatory restriction in hotels in the Republic.

    Rapid Test - For the 356 cases, out of 10,889 samples examined using the antigen rapid test, it is noted that the highest rate of positivity by a small margin from Larnaca Province was recorded in Famagusta Province.
