CONCERN OVER RAPID TEST SURGE IN PAPHOS COMMUNITIES

Filenews 30 November 2020 - by Dora Christodoulou

The two Sunday rapid test samples carried out in the community of Talas and the Municipality of Pegia, came to confirm a worrying trend recorded in the last week in areas of Paphos province. While the province's lockdown lasted, Paphos recorded in the fast tests carried out daily from zero to minimal positive cases, making Paphos the region with the most significant improvement, in recent days the clouds have started to thicken.

Health officials described the results of rapid tests in Chloraka, Kisonerga, Geroskipou, Pegia in previous days, as well as Tala on Sunday, as well as the re-run in Pegia, as "sufficiently worrying" for the spread of the virus in the community. They also argued that new repeat tests of this type should also be carried out, as well as a thorough investigation into the causes of this sudden burden, as the results show.
