The restriction of access for vehicles to the dog beach in the area of Kassianes (Spyros Beach), located near Larnaca airport, has caused reactions. Along this coastal front, safety barriers were installed by the Larnaca District Administration.
As the prefect of Larnaca, Odysseas Hatzistefanou, explained to "F", rocks had been placed from the desalination plant to the boundaries of the airport, in order to prevent the access of vehicles to the beach, which is located in a natura area, due to the proximity to the salt lake. "Some lifted the rocks and then we put up iron barriers, which they pulled out again. In this area, we identified 13 caravans, which were alerted. That's why safety barriers were installed. But there are places for a pedestrian to go down to the beach," he noted.
