EOA NICOSIA - PUBLISHED A MAP WITH DANGEROUS BUILDINGS AND THE OCCUPIED AREAS WRITTEN IN TURKISH - Filenews 11/8 by Vassos Vassiliou
The EOA Nicosia did a perfect job regarding the dangerous constructions but with an eye-catching detail.
The detail, which looks like a gela, is not related to the whole work carried out with on-site visits, inspections, assessments, classifications, etc., but concerns the map on which the problematic buildings are identified.
Specifically, on the map on which the points with the dangerous buildings are placed, in the free areas the names of the communities are imprinted in the Greek language, while on the side of the (single) map with the occupied areas the names are printed in Turkish.
In a relevant referral of the EOA, reference is also made to the Land Registry Department. Specifically, the information material records: "Interactive map of the active registry. Select satellite image or the parcel level of the Land Registry from the level icon at the top right".
Regarding the specific map and the recording of the occupied communities and other data in Turkish, we tried to contact the HOC but this, perhaps due to the holidays, was not possible. However, it is not excluded that a map from the internet was used, in which the recording of the names is reflected in Greek, as far as the free areas are concerned, and in Turkish as far as the occupied territories are concerned.
As for the substance of the recording and in general of the mapping presented, it was done by the new digital service of the EDA Nicosia, which refers to the "Active Register of Dangerous Buildings of the Nicosia District", which is now available online.
It is noted that the Organization's Hazardous Buildings Sector carries out on-site inspections and evaluates both the buildings delivered by the former competent authorities, as well as any new case. The register is live and automatically updated with each new item. The citizen can be informed about the following:
>> Buildings that have been declared dangerous or need repair.
>> Search and analysis by administrative area.
>> Interactive map with the exact location of each building.
In a text that is published, reference is made to the safety of public space and it is added that this is everyone's business. He also suggests that citizens see what applies in their area of residence regarding dangerous constructions.
