The son-in-law and his best man, who was allegedly the driver of the racing vehicle that engaged in dangerous drift manoeuvers at the Linopetra roundabout, are expected to be brought before the Limassol District Court today, Tuesday, in order to issue a detention order for them.
The two men were arrested by the Limassol Traffic Police as part of the investigation of the case and were taken into custody.
During their interrogation, they allegedly stated that after the incident they realized the seriousness of their actions.
At the same time, investigators continue their investigations into the case, while the focus is also on locating the racing vehicle used for the dangerous spectacle.
The two arrested face offenses concerning, among other things, negligent and reckless acts, cutting off the road, negligent and dangerous driving, as well as causing a nuisance and obstructing traffic.
The case concerns the video posted on social media with the indication "Just Married", in which a racing vehicle is recorded drifting at the roundabout, while at the same time sparklers are lit and the exits seem to have been blocked by towing vehicles.
Update - The vehicle used for the dangerous manoeuvers and drifts at the Linopetra roundabout remains missing, with the Limassol Traffic Police continuing the investigations into the case. The body presented yesterday by the 36-year-old to the Police seems, according to the examinations, not to correspond to the car recorded in the video of the incident, which took place last Saturday afternoon, after the wedding ceremony.
The two suspects, his son-in-law and best man, were brought before the Limassol District Court, which ordered their detention for a period of two days.
When interrogated, the 36-year-old groom stated that on 31/10 he was celebrating his wedding. The sacrament was completed around 18:10 in a church, in Agios Athanasios. After the ceremony, his friends gathered at his house, where, according to his claims, they decided to drift at the Agios Athanasios roundabout, using a racing car.
There, according to what he mentioned, he cut off the west entrance from the side of Mesa Geitonia, parking his trailer in front of it, while in another place there was a trailer owned by the groom, with a different driver. The remaining entrances and exits of the roundabout were blocked by other tow trucks and vehicles, the drivers of which have not yet been identified.
The groom then suggested to his first best man, 2nd suspect, who was at the scene, to drive the racing vehicle. The 2nd suspect allegedly drove it for about five minutes. The 36-year-old then reloaded the vehicle into his trailer and transported it to his home, before leaving with his wife for the wedding reception.
The vehicle presented to the Police
Of particular interest is the vehicle presented to the Limassol Traffic Police by Garbos yesterday.According to the data under investigation, the body presented to the Traffic Police does not seem to correspond to the car recorded in the video.
In particular, the body does not have an engine, crown, gearbox, steering wheel, seats, headlights, bumpers, tyres and the entire braking system. At the same time, it has a shattered front windscreen and different registration numbers.
Police investigations continue
As part of the investigations, three statements have already been taken, while several more are expected to be taken from close and family members of the two suspects, as well as from their professional associates. At the same time, searches are planned in car yards with which the two suspects cooperate, while closed surveillance circuits will be examined, in order to determine whether the specific vehicle was transported to the Agios Athanasios roundabout with a tugboat. At the same time, the authorities are looking for two drivers of vehicle transport trailers.

The circumstances under which the Halloween party took place in a beach center in Limassol, in which minors consumed alcohol, are described to philenews by a student who went to the party. As he mentioned, initially the event was scheduled to take place in the amphitheater of Mouttagiaka. However, at the last minute, the organizers informed them that the event would be moved to another premises.
"They put a story on Instagram that the location is changing due to speakers and lighting," he said. He explained that she had paid the amount of €8 for the reservation. When, however, they arrived at the premises, they were asked to pay extra money, as the entrance fee was €25. The party was scheduled to take place on Saturday (31/10), from 19:00 until midnight.
A lot of people and a delay in entry
According to the student, the entrance of the attendees was delayed by about 40 minutes, due to the large number of people who had gathered outside the beach center.
As he describes, the majority of them were students up to the third grade of Lyceum, from various areas of Limassol. There were security personnel in the area, both at the entrance and inside the premises.
The situation, as he says, was initially going smoothly. However, around 20:00 to 21:00 incidents of malaise began to be observed among the minors.
"Several students started drinking. Some others were drunk and vomited. They were dizzy and not feeling well," he said. In fact, he described an incident with a girl who felt intense dizziness and collapsed in the arms of other bystanders.
"In general, several could not stand on their feet and it looked like they were drunk," he added.
The student reported that his parents arrived at the place around 22:00 to pick him up. At the same time, an ambulance had already been called outside the area.
As he clarified, he did not consume alcohol, however he saw other minors drinking, among other things, vodka with juice. According to him, a person from his group was taken to the hospital.
13 minors in the A&E - Police investigations are underway
According to statements by the Assistant Police Director of Limassol, Lefteris Kyriakou, in Sigma, the details of the 13 minors, who are 15-17 years old, have been identified.
Mr. Kyriakou stated that according to the data so far, the party was scheduled to be organized in a specific place that the parents were aware of and in which no alcoholic beverages would be served. In the end, the organizers changed the venue of the party, as a result of which there were also alcoholic beverages that were given to minors. Before the change of location, the children had already purchased their tickets.
A newer update from the TAE Limassol states that so far six statements have been taken from parents whose children were at the party and consumed alcoholic beverages. As it turns out, children who were not feeling well visited various hospitals, but no incident was considered serious.
As our website is informed, the investigators of the TAE Limassol have obtained evidence regarding the person who allegedly organized the party, while they continue to take statements from various persons, including parents and minors.
New data emerge from the investigation of the Halloween party in a beach center of Limassol, in which dozens of minors consumed alcohol. In addition to the 13 children, aged 15 to 17, who had to be taken to hospitals due to illness, a 16-year-old was also injured, who is being treated at Makarios Hospital with a head fracture.
According to information, the minor seems to have fallen to the ground under circumstances that are being investigated, as a result of which he suffered a head fracture. As philenews is informed, from the testimonies that have been taken, it appears that the 16-year-old allegedly consumed alcohol himself during the party. The investigators of the TAE Limassol are also examining the circumstances under which he was injured.
At the same time, police investigations are in full swing into the conditions of the party, but also into how alcoholic beverages were distributed to minors. According to our information, the investigators have obtained evidence regarding the person who allegedly organized the event, while they continue to take statements from parents, students and other persons who may know information about the case.
At the same time, in the context of the examinations, there is also the possibility that the alcohol consumed was adulterated. The offenses of illegal entry of minors into a nightclub and illegal sale of alcoholic beverages to minors are being investigated for the case.
The venue changed at the last minute
The picture that prevailed at the event is described to Filenews by a student who was at the party. As he mentioned, the initial forecast was for the event to take place in the amphitheatre of Mouttagiaka. However, shortly before the event, organizers informed via an Instagram post that the location was changing, citing issues related to sound and lighting.

An incident with the 43-year-old who confessed to the murder of 61-year-old Olga Vassilieva took place on Sunday night inside the Limassol police detention center, causing a mobilization of the members of the Police.
According to the information, the 43-year-old was attacked by another prisoner while he was in his cell. The circumstances under which his cellmate managed to approach him and attack him are being investigated.
Police officers who immediately realized the incident rushed to the cell. The 43-year-old was then taken to the Limassol General Hospital, where he underwent medical examinations and was treated. After completing his examination, he was discharged and returned to the detention center.
The incident led to additional measures being taken, with the authorities deciding to isolate him from the rest of the prisoners, so that there would be no new attack against him. According to our information, the 43-year-old allegedly asked that the incident not be followed up and that no further investigation be carried out, as he does not want to create any confrontation with other detainees within the detention area.
Update regarding the case - The son of 61-year-old Olga Vasilieva, who was murdered by the 43-year-old, confessed perpetrator, of Syrian origin, gave a statement at the offices of the TAE Limassol this morning, Monday (2/11). Despite the investigation of the murder, the investigations of the Limassol Police Department are in full swing, with the investigators seeking to gather all the necessary evidence and testimonies, in order to fully substantiate the case before Justice.
This is the person who, as we wrote in a previous publication, contributed decisively to securing information that led investigators to the traces of the 43-year-old, as he sent the authorities a photo of the man with his mother's dog. The photo was one of the elements that contributed to the direction of the investigations towards his location.
According to the same information, the 61-year-old's son, after his testimony, was also present during the search carried out in his mother's vehicle. It is recalled that the vehicle was located in a parking lot in Linopetra on October 30.
He knew about the alleged car accident and the financial pressures
The 61-year-old's son seems to have known several details about the relationship his mother had with the 43-year-old, as, according to our information, she had informed him about the alleged car accident in which the suspect was involved, as well as about the alleged compensation of €60.000 to €70.000.
According to what her son knew, his mother was not willing to give the 43-year-old money. Instead, she had offered him to return the necklace he had given her as a gift, which, however, was fake.
It also seems that the 43-year-old was pressuring the 61-year-old, while, according to what her son knew, his mother had informed him that he was thinking of going to Syria in order to secure the money he claimed he needed to cover the car accident.
According to what Olga's son allegedly knew, the 43-year-old did not accept her refusal to help him financially and appeared angry with her. In fact, she considered that the amount he was asking for was relatively small compared to her financial situation.
Investigators are seeking to collect all available information about Olga's personal relationships, her contacts with the 43-year-old, but also the last days before her disappearance.
At the same time, as part of the investigations, the bank accounts of both the woman and the suspect are being examined. As our website wrote the day before yesterday, special importance is attached to the withdrawals of money that the 61-year-old had made a few days before her disappearance, specifically before October 21.
Information from filenews states that the 61-year-old had initially withdrawn a sum of money of €25.000 and then a second withdrawal of €10.000, with the total amount amounting to €35.000.
Investigators are investigating the reasons why these withdrawals were made, as well as whether the money is linked to the financial demands that the 43-year-old allegedly made.
According to the same information, the 43-year-old, the confessed perpetrator, denies receiving money from the victim, however, his allegations are expected to be investigated by investigators. It is recalled that during his arrest at the airport, he was found in possession of a purse, in which there was a total amount of €4.620 in banknotes, as well as foreign currency, including banknotes in Russian rubles.
At the same time, the investigations continue at an intensive pace, while the investigators receive and evaluate various evidence, such as material from closed circuit surveillance and other evidence. At the same time, the results of the scientific examinations are awaited, which are estimated to further contribute to the completion of the investigative work.
It is worth noting that, among the items found in the field of 61-year-old Olga, in Saittas, are included two bottles of bleach. According to the evidence under investigation, the 43-year-old allegedly reported that, after throwing the victim's body into a sewer pit, he doused it with bleach.
The 61-year-old's son arrived in Cyprus on Sunday night from Russia and is expected to remain on the island in the near future, in order to settle the procedural issues related to his mother's body and funeral, as well as issues related to her professional activities.
Finally, the lawyer of 61-year-old Olga, Pambos Ioannou, sent a letter today to the Ministry of Justice and the Chief of Police, expressing his thanks for solving the murder of his client. In his letter, Mr. Ioannou expresses his appreciation for the efficiency, professionalism and zeal shown by the members of the Cyprus Police and especially to the heads of the Limassol Police Department during the investigation of the case.

The curtain fell today, Tuesday (3/11), on the case of the homicide of 80-year-old Giorgos Hadjigeorgiou, with his 49-year-old son accused, who admitted to one of the charges he was facing, namely that he fatally stabbed his elderly father, in the early hours of July 9, 2025, in Limassol.
The Criminal Court issued a unanimous decision, imposing a 13-year prison sentence on the accused.
In its judgment, the Court points out that this is not a defendant who can be described as a heinous murderer. As reported, he attributes his act to what he claims he had experienced from his father, while it is noted that his action was not completely unrelated to what he experienced previously.
When determining the sentence, the accused's admission, his remorse, as well as the serious mental health problems he faces were taken into account.
The accused, upon entering the courtroom, apologized for his behaviour, saying that "my heart is saddened by my plight". The Court took into account, among other things, the circumstances of the offense, noting that the accused took the action that led to the death of his father without provocation. At the same time, reference was made to the element of brutality of the act, while no pre-planning elements were found.
The 49-year-old was represented before the Criminal Court by lawyers Alexandros Saouris and Maria Neophytou.
The chronicle of the case
The Court also referred to the facts of the case. Specifically, on July 9, 2025, in the early hours of the morning, the accused called from his mobile phone to the Limassol Police Department and confessed that a few minutes earlier he had stabbed his father. At the same time, he asked the members of the Police to go to his house to arrest him.
The defendant stated that, while he was in his bedroom using his computer, he began to think about the "suffering" that he claimed his father had caused him. According to what was stated before the Court, these thoughts led him to the desire to harm him.
The Court also referred to the defendant's apology, as well as the mental health problems he faces.
As it was pointed out, there was no reduced imputation, as it was not brought before the Court that his mental health problems affected his ability to perceive his actions.
Specifically, it was judged that he was aware of his actions, as a few minutes after the incident he called the Police, and then contacted his spiritual father, in order to receive a forgiveness.
However, the Court took into account the fact that the defendant has serious mental health problems when determining the sentence.
The reasoning of the decision
The Criminal Court stressed that the crime of homicide is a particularly serious crime since the value of human life, which is the highest good, is self-evident. Referring to the outbreak observed, the Criminal Court further emphasized the need to impose dissuasive penalties and protect society from persons who commit such serious offenses.
With reference to the circumstances of the commission of the offense, the Criminal Court noted the unprovoked action of the Accused and the brutality of his act, although no pre-planning evidence was found. The use of a knife, combined with the fact that it was a number of blows, while the victim was sleeping unsuspectingly and without room for reaction or resistance, were elements that added to the seriousness of the offense.
In relation to the psychiatric problems presented by the Accused, which were taken into account in the context of sentencing, it was noted, with reference to a psychiatric report, that no "external" influence arose either in the form of impulses or in the form of auditory hallucinations or any recent conflict with the victim and neither was the Defendant's behavior attributed to any provocation on the part of the victim.
It was further stated that there was no issue of reduced attribution since the mental health problems presented by the Defendant did not affect his mental or perceptual function in relation to his actions and responsibility.
For the benefit of the Accused, the personal and family circumstances of the Accused, his cooperation with the police authorities, since it was he who notified them a few minutes later that he stabbed his father, his admission and his clean criminal record were taken into account.

The deportation of a third-country citizen from Cyprus does not automatically entail the termination of the judicial proceedings concerning his case, according to a decision of the Administrative Court of Appeal. The Republic reserves the right to continue the proceedings, in particular in cases where a previous court decision may create financial or other legal obligations for the State.
The decision was issued on October 29, 2026, in the context of an appeal registered by the Attorney General of the Republic against a first-instance decision, which had annulled the detention and deportation orders of a Vietnamese citizen.
In particular, according to an announcement by the Legal Service, the Court of Appeal accepted the position of the Attorney General of the Republic that the case is still relevant, as a previous court decision may create an obligation for the Republic to pay compensation to the deported person. For this reason, as the Court of Appeal held, the Republic can continue the judicial proceedings against the foreign deported person even if this person has already been deported from Cyprus.
"The appeal continues to have an object and the legitimacy of the Republic to promote it is not negated, since the first-instance annulment decision continues to produce legal effects, i.e. rights and obligations, including the right of the foreigner to seek compensation on the basis of the annulment effect under Article 146.6 of the Constitution", the Court of Appeal notes characteristically in its decision.
The case was handled, on behalf of the Attorney General of the Republic, by Ms. Rafaela Charalambous, Lawyer of the Republic.

The Administrative Court today rejected the request of the former community leader of Palaichori Orini to suspend the decision of the District Officer of Nicosia to dismiss him from office, ruling that no obvious illegality or irreparable damage was established.
The former president of the Community Council, who was elected in the 2024 Local Government elections, appealed to the Administrative Court requesting the annulment of his dismissal. Today's interim decision concerns the request for suspension and not the final judgment on the appeal.
His dismissal was decided after it was found that he had previously been sentenced to prison for an offense that falls into the category of those involving lack of honesty or even moral obscenity. The Communities Law provides in such cases for automatic dismissal from office.
In its judgment, the Court stated, with reference to recent case law, that repercussions on reputation and political image, as well as the loss of service, do not constitute irreparable damage, as they can be restored if the applicant is vindicated at the final hearing.
As far as the public interest is concerned, he underlined that the orderly, orderly and morally indisputable operation of the local administration outweighs the personal consequences invoked by the applicant.
On behalf of the Attorney General of the Republic, the case was handled by the Prosecutor of the Republic Gianna Hatzihanna, the Senior Lawyer of the Republic Theodora Piperi and the Lawyer of the Republic Simos Platis.
