MAJOR ROAD WORKS
Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway
Along the entire length of the Larnaca-Kofinou motorway—in both directions and including the interchanges—work will be carried out to cut, prune, and clear away acacia and other trees from the road shoulders and embankments. This work is scheduled from Monday, September 21, 2026, to Friday, October 9, 2026 (excluding weekends and public holidays), between 08:30 and 16:30. During the operations, sections of the motorway shoulder will be closed intermittently; however, traffic will continue to flow without interruption in the traffic lanes.
On sections of the Larnaca-Kofinou motorway heading towards Kofinou—specifically between the Anglisides exit and the Kofinou exit—periodic road surface maintenance work will be carried out on Monday, October 5, 2026, between 20:00 and 05:30 the following morning. During the execution of works on the aforementioned section, only the Larnaca–Kofinou direction of the motorway will be closed, and traffic will be diverted via the exit to Anglisides and along the old Larnaca–Kofinou road as far as Kofinou, guided by appropriate signage. Traffic in the opposite direction (Kofinou–Larnaca) will proceed without interruption.
Periodic road surface maintenance works will be carried out on sections of the Larnaca–Kofinou motorway (towards Kofinou)—specifically from the area past Anglisides up to the Kofinou exit—on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, between 20:00 and 05:30 the following morning. During these works, both traffic lanes in the Larnaca–Kofinou direction will be closed section by section over a distance of approximately 4 km; traffic will be diverted to the opposite carriageway, which will operate with two-way traffic flow, guided by appropriate signage. The exit towards Kofinou will remain closed, and traffic will be diverted via the preceding Anglisides exit and the old Larnaca-Kofinou road, following appropriate signage.
Limassol-Nicosia Motorway
On the Limassol-Nicosia motorway—in both directions and along the section between the GSP roundabout and the junction with the Nicosia-Larnaca motorway—the Department of Forests will carry out periodic plant-watering operations on the verges and embankments. These works will take place daily (excluding weekends and public holidays) from Friday, October 2, 2026, to Monday, November 30, 2026, between 08:30 and 14:30. During the operations, sections of the verge will be closed off—approximately 300 meters at a time per direction. Traffic flow will not be affected. Nicosia Ring Road
Limassol-Paphos Motorway
On the section of the motorway between Erimi and Petra tou Romiou, the Department of Forests will carry out periodic watering works on the central reservation from Monday, 07/09/2026, to Tuesday, 15/12/2026, between the hours of 07:00 and 15:00 (excluding weekends). During the works, the right-hand traffic lane will be closed over a distance of approximately 2,000 meters, and traffic will be diverted to the left-hand lane.
On the Paphos–Limassol motorway, in the direction from Paphos to Limassol, inspection works on the Petra tou Romiou bridge will be carried out on Wednesday, 7 October 2026, between 08:30 and 15:00. During the works, the slow lane along the bridge will be closed, and traffic will be diverted to the fast lane. On the Limassol–Paphos motorway, in the direction from Limassol to Paphos, bridge inspection work will be carried out on Friday, October 9, 2026, between 08:30 and 15:00. During the works, the slow lane along the bridge will be closed, and traffic will be diverted to the fast lane.
Nicosia District
In Nicosia and Aglantzia, as part of the "Improvement of Ammochostou Avenue in Nicosia" project, works lasting 24 months have been underway since February 20, 2025, and are expected to be completed by February 22, 2027. Specifically, the project covers Ammochostou Avenue—from its junction with Kalavryton Street to the Sopaz roundabout (a length of approximately 1.7 km)—and a secondary road network spanning 0.8 km. ...approximately, comprising sections of Kalavryton, Pafou, Madaris, and Semelis streets.
On the Nicosia Ring Road (A22), on Saturday, October 3, 2026, between the hours of 06:30 and 08:00, works will be carried out
Installation works for temporary Automatic Traffic Counters (ATC).
ATC1 – Ring Road – A22 (before the roundabout near the Tseri Industrial Area/Skopevtirio junction) at two locations (two lanes in each direction),
ATC2 – Ring Road – A22 (east of the at-grade terminal roundabout near the Lakatameia Light Industrial Area) at two locations (two lanes in each direction).
During the installation works, the slow or fast lane will be closed alternately, and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. The aforementioned counters will be removed on Saturday, October 10, 2026, between 06:30 and 08:00.
Limassol District
On the Limassol – Troodos road near "Psilo Dentro," a private company will carry out construction works for a retaining wall—incorporating mesh to raise existing wall sections—from Monday, August 24, 2026, to Wednesday, December 23, 2026. During the works, one traffic lane will be closed for a distance of approximately 100 meters, and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane using temporary traffic lights.
On the Episkopi-Mandria road, near the village of Souni-Zanatzia, a private company—acting on behalf of the Water Development Department—will carry out water pipeline installation works from Monday, August 31, 2026, to Thursday, December 31, 2026. During the works, one traffic lane will be closed for a distance of approximately 100 meters, and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane using temporary traffic lights.
On sections of the Agia Fyla–Agros road near Paramytha, micro-trenching works for a telecommunications provider will be carried out from Monday, October 5, 2026, to Wednesday, October 14, 2026, between the hours of 07:00 and 15:00, daily (excluding weekends). During the execution of the works, one traffic lane will be closed at a time—covering a stretch of approximately 100 meters—and traffic will be managed alternately using a "STOP & GO" system with appropriate signage.
Road widening works will be carried out on the Episkopi–Mandria road, at its junction with the road to Agios Therapon, from Monday, September 28, 2026, to Friday, October 30, 2026. Work will take place daily—excluding weekends and public holidays—between the hours of 07:00 and 15:30.
During the works, one traffic lane will be closed for a distance of approximately 100 meters, and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane using temporary traffic lights.
Wall construction works will be carried out on sections of the Karvounas–Kyperounta road from Monday, October 5, 2026, to Friday, October 30, 2026. Work will take place daily—excluding weekends and the public holiday—between the hours of 07:00 and 15:30. During the execution of the works, one traffic lane will be closed at a time—covering a stretch of approximately 100 meters—and traffic will be managed alternately using a "STOP & GO" system with appropriate signage.
Larnaca District
In Larnaca, reconstruction work will be carried out on Faneromenis Avenue from Monday, September 14, 2026, to Friday, October 16, 2026. During the works, both traffic lanes in the direction from the ‘Faneromenis’ roundabout to the ‘K-Cineplex’ roundabout will remain closed for a distance of approximately 1,000 meters. Vehicle traffic will be diverted via adjacent roads in accordance with appropriate temporary road signage. Traffic in the opposite direction—from the ‘K-Cineplex’ roundabout to the ‘Faneromenis’ roundabout—will proceed without interruption. In Oroklini, reconstruction work on a section of Okeanias Street will take place from Monday, September 14, 2026, to Friday, October 30, 2026. During this period, the section of Okeanias Street between its junctions with Ploutonos Street and Mesaorias Street will remain closed to vehicular traffic. Traffic will be diverted via Ploutonos, Selinis, and Mesaorias Streets.
Along the entire length of the Larnaca Airport – Ayia Napa motorway—stretching from Larnaca Airport to the Xylotymvou exit in both directions, including interchanges—work involving the cutting, pruning, and removal of acacia and other trees from the road shoulders and embankments will be carried out. This work is scheduled from Friday, October 2, 2026, to Friday, November 13, 2026 (excluding Sundays and public holidays), between the hours of 08:30 and 16:30.
During the execution of the work, sections of the motorway shoulder will be closed intermittently. Traffic flow within the travel lanes will remain uninterrupted. On Georgiou Griva Digeni and Eleftherias Avenues from Tuesday, October 6, 2026, to Monday, October 19, 2026 (inclusive of weekends), construction work for signal-controlled pedestrian crossings will be carried out. During the works, a section of the right-hand traffic lane—extending approximately 90 meters in each direction—at the roundabout near the New GSZ Stadium will be occupied. Vehicle traffic will be routed through the left-hand lane, guided by appropriate temporary road signage. Additionally, the right-hand lane at the roundabout entrance, in both directions, will remain reserved exclusively for vehicles heading towards Australia Avenue and Giorgos Christodoulides Avenue, respectively.
Road lighting works will be carried out on sections of the roads at the Kalo Chorio roundabout—approaching from all four directions (sequentially)—from Friday, October 9, 2026, to Friday, October 16, 2026. These works will take place daily (excluding weekends) between the hours of 08:30 and 15:00. During the execution of the works, one lane or the road shoulder will be closed for a length of approximately 50 meters, and vehicle traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane, guided by appropriate temporary road signage.
Pipeline construction works will be carried out on a section of the road between the villages of Anglisides and Kofinou from Tuesday, October 6, 2026, to Friday, November 6, 2026—daily, excluding weekends and public holidays, between the hours of 08:00 and 16:00. During the works, the road section will be closed for a length of approximately 100 meters at two simultaneous locations, and traffic will be diverted to an adjacent lane using traffic lights, in accordance with appropriate temporary road signage.
