ELECTRONIC FRAUD IN CYPRUS - ASPiS CAMPAIGN FOR THE SIXTH YEAR - THE SIGNS THAT NEED ATTENTION - Filenews 23/10

The Association of Cyprus Banks recommends beware of suspicious messages and phone calls asking for personal or bank details, as part of the ASPiS campaign to protect citizens from electronic fraud.

The campaign is being carried out for the sixth consecutive year, with the cooperation of the Association, the Office of the Commissioner of Telecommunications and Posts and the Cyprus Police. The aim is to inform the public about fraud methods and enhance security in digital transactions.
In a statement, the Association calls on citizens to treat requests for passwords or transaction confirmation codes with special care. As warning signs, he points out the sense of urgency that senders are trying to create, suspicious links and requests for immediate confirmation of data.

As he states, the methods of the fraudsters are constantly evolving, as electronic transactions and digital communication are now part of everyday life. Information and prevention therefore remain basic means of protecting citizens and their property.

The Association notes that banks invest in the security of their systems and transactions, while underlining the importance of informing the public about risks and available protection practices.

Information on the identification and avoidance of electronic fraud is available on the website of the Association of Cyprus Banks.

Through the ASPiS campaign, the participating bodies highlight the importance of cooperation and active participation of citizens in the prevention of fraud incidents, with an emphasis on vigilance and the responsible use of digital services.
