The resumption of research into the electrical interconnection project is approaching, with the French-flagged research vessel "Abeille Marengo" having sailed from the port of Naples to Heraklion. The boat is expected to arrive in Crete on Tuesday, October 27.
The ship's contractor, Nexans, has applied for permission to conduct underwater oceanographic and bathymetric surveys between Crete and Cyprus to promote the GSI cable.
When the ship arrives in Heraklion and the preparations are completed, it will wait for the NAVTEX to be issued to begin the investigations.
According to information, the NAVTEX will be issued in early November.
Yesterday, early in the afternoon, the other research vessel, the KOBI RUEGG, started from Heraklion, which will start the research in approximately the same area of the Greek continental shelf for the laying of the other telecommunications interconnection cable between Saudi Arabia and Greece, for which the Heraklion station has issued a NAVTEX with effect from October 23 to 30.
So, with these two moves, after many adventures, reactions and backstage, it seems that we are now entering the final stretch for the resumption of investigations.
