PROSECUTION WITNESS TESTIMONY CONTINUES IN THE PHAEDONOS TRIAL - Pafos Press 22/9
The hearing in the case against the suspended Mayor of Paphos, Phaedonas Phaedonos, continues today, Tuesday, before the Permanent Assize Court of Paphos with the summoning and examination of key prosecution witnesses.
The trial is being held behind closed doors, without the presence of the public, following a Court decision that granted a relevant request by the prosecution. The Assize Court has scheduled the next hearing dates for today (September 22), September 29, and October 6; the presentation of the prosecution's case is expected to continue on these dates.
According to reports, prosecution witnesses from the complainant's workplace testified during the most recent hearings.
Since the start of the proceedings in late July, more than ten prosecution witnesses have testified.
The majority of these are members of the Police investigative team and experts who were called to present evidence and data regarding the case. Phaedonas Phaedonos faces a total of five charges: rape, indecent assault against a woman, indecent assault against a woman involving an additional act, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and the administration of a drug or other substance capable of stupefying a person or overcoming their power of resistance.
The accused has pleaded not guilty to all five charges.
