A rare visitor was recorded by the camera lens at the vulture feeding unit of the Department of Forests in Agios Ioannis, Paphos.
It is an Egyptian Vulture (Neophron percnopterus), also known as Egyptian vulture, whose presence is characterized by the Department of Forests as particularly impressive and promising.
The recording was made in the vulture feeding unit, where the bird was captured during its presence in the area. According to the Department of Forests, the Egyptian vulture is the smallest and most endangered vulture in Europe. "It is a migratory species that travels every year from Europe to Africa," the Department says in a video, adding that the Egyptian vulture uses Cyprus as a "refuelling stop" on its long journey.
