The Minister of Finance, Makis Keravnos, is expected to submit a proposal at the next meeting of the Council of Ministers to give an extension until November to the reduced consumption tax on fuel.
The revelation was made by technocrats during the debate in the parliamentary Committee on Trade during the discussion of a harmonizing bill that aims to promote the use of renewable energy sources, among others, in the transport sector as well as the use of sustainable fuels in the aviation sector. The measure expires on September 17, with a spokesman for the Ministry of Finance stating that there is an intention to extend the measure for another two months. Therefore, if an extension is granted, fuel will continue to be cheaper by 8.33 cents, per liter.
It is worth noting that for this purpose, the Ministry of Finance will submit a relevant bill to the Parliament.
