The average price of diesel in Cyprus is close to €2 per liter, while refinery prices continue to rise, according to the Director of the Consumer Protection Service, Konstantinos Karagiorgis. Speaking to KYPE, he said that geopolitical developments do not leave much room for optimism about the course of fuel prices.
According to the Retail Fuel Price Observatory, on Wednesday morning the average price of diesel was €1,977 per litre, with the lowest at €1,869 and the highest at €2,076.
For unleaded 95, the average price was €1.70 per litre. The lowest price was €1,595 and the highest was €1,789.
Karagiorgis: We cannot predict the next prices
Asked about the prices of the cargoes that are expected to be received in the immediate future, Mr. Karagiorgis clarified that "we cannot predict what will happen in the future".
He added, however, that the current picture is not particularly optimistic, as continuous increases in refinery prices are recorded.
"We hope that there will be a prospect of resolving the differences in the region, so that we can see a stabilization of the situation," he said.
