The aim of the campaign was to strengthen road safety and consolidate the correct and legal use of Personal Mobility Devices (scooters).
During the checks carried out in all provinces, between August 7 and 9, members of the Police made complaints about violations of the relevant legislation, while at the same time informing and guiding users about the obligations and rules of safe movement.
The audits revealed a total of 526 complaints, concerning:
• 219 complaints regarding the distribution area of Personal Mobility Devices
• 116 complaints about the non-use of protective helmets
• 86 complaints about the non-use of fluorescent insignia
• 23 complaints about the non-use of lights
• 82 other violations of the law
At the same time, as part of the police examinations, 28 Personal Mobility Devices were confiscated.
This is the second traffic control campaign in recent days, since between July 31 and August 2, pan-Cypriot inspections were also carried out, from which 516 complaints emerged for violations of the relevant Legislation:
• 249 complaints regarding the distribution area of Personal Mobility Devices
• 103 complaints about the non-use of protective helmets
• 23 complaints about the non-use of lights
• 82 other violations of the law
At the same time, as part of the police examinations, 28 Personal Mobility Devices were confiscated.
