The educational policies that will be implemented this year in Secondary General and Secondary Technical Education are grouped into three sectors, according to official information to schools by the two competent Directorates of the Ministry of Education.

In particular, the focus will be on improving quality in learning, improving equity in learning and improving administrative structures and functions. Particularly in the first area, several actions have been included in order to achieve the objectives. Among these actions included in the chapter "Improvement of quality in learning", is the updating and modernization of the Curricula in all subjects of all grades with emphasis on the rationalization of their content, the reduction of the syllabus so that the syllabus is identical to the one to be examined, the promotion of the cultivation of digital and cognitive skills, and ensuring an adequate and coherent body of knowledge.
Reference is also made to the operation of All-Day Lower Secondary Schools of Interdisciplinary – Interdisciplinary Learning. This school year, the operation of the All-Day Gymnasium of Interdisciplinary – Interdisciplinary Learning continues at the Pancyprian Gymnasium and the Archangelos Lakatamia Gymnasium in Nicosia, the Lanitio Gymnasium and the Ypsonas Gymnasium in Limassol, the Evriviadeio Gymnasium in Larnaca, the Paralimni Gymnasium in Famagusta and the Nikolaidio Gymnasium in Paphos. This year, the operation of the Optional All-Day School of Secondary Education continues at the Gymnasium of Agios Dometios and the institution is also extended to the Gymnasium of Apostolos Andreas Embas for the students of the A Gymnasium. The program aims to improve learning engagement, reduce school dropout, as well as better integrate students with a migrant background.

The institution of the Technical Gymnasium, which operated as a pilot during the school year 2025 – 2026 at the Gymnasium of Agios Stylianos in Nicosia and the Gymnasium of Polemidia in Limassol, is also extended to the districts of Famagusta and Paphos, specifically to the Gymnasium of Kokkinochoria Panos Ioannou and the Gymnasium of Panagia Theoskepasti.

During the 2026 – 2027 school year, the implementation of a Job Shadowing Week Program for B Lyceum students is planned, which aims to offer children the opportunity to get to know the work environment up close and to develop skills and attitudes that will help them in their future professional career.

Another, important action is the promotion of the Greek Language through the upgrading of its teaching as a mother tongue, as well as its teaching as a second Language. In particular, the empowerment of all teachers of all levels in the proper use of Greek and the adoption of good practices for its cultivation, the targeted updating of the Curricula, the enrichment of the teaching material, as well as actions to highlight the potential of the timelessness and universality of the Greek Language, such as the organization and conduct of student competitions, are promoted. workshops, seminars.

In addition, the implementation of a pilot program for learning the German Language in schools in the districts of Nicosia, Limassol and Paphos continues, while the intervention Financial Education and Literacy Program will also be implemented in all three grades of Gymnasium. Program implemented by Commercial/Economics teachers. Its annual duration is set at three teaching periods for Grade A and Grade B and six teaching periods for Grade C. The aim of the Programme is to empower young people with financial skills to effectively manage their personal or family finances and improve their financial well-being.
