PAPHOS AIRPORT ROAD VIA TIMI - IT HAS NOW BEEN REGISTERED AND THEY PLAN TO UPGRADE - Filenews 22/8 by Dora Christodoulou

After decades of using it, they realized that it is unwritten in the official state archives, they registered it in the Land Registry and are now running the procedures to upgrade it.

The reason for the existing road of Paphos Airport, from the community of Timi to the unit, which, in addition to being unwritten all these years, is also infrastructure of past decades and does not offer the slightest facilitation to the current increased flow to the airport.
The issue has already been of concern to Parliament's Committee on Transport, Communications and Works since its previous composition, the members of which also went to the site to examine the situation and plan their actions towards improving the situation. The new Parliament that emerged from the last elections is expected to continue dealing with the issue, since the five Paphos MPs are all personally involved in the issue, while they are already receiving intense pressure to change the current status of this route.

Speaking to Filenews, the member of the committee, Paphos MP of DIKO Chrysanthos Savvidis, said that the existing, old road that connects Paphos airport with Paphos through the community of Timi, will be upgraded immediately in order to meet even rudimentarily the current increased needs of tourism, but also of road traffic in the area. In particular, he stressed, the study for the electrification of the existing road has already begun, while a master plan for its further improvement is also being promoted, after its official registration as a normal public road, since as it was only found in 2025, for decades this road was not officially registered.

It is an immediate necessity to quickly promote the improvement works on this road axis, Mr. Savvides remarked, given that Paphos Airport has shown a huge increase in traffic in recent years and it is obvious to its users, but also to the residents of the communities in the area that the current condition of the road is anything but good for Paphos and its tourism.

We will push further in every direction for the improvement of this road, so that the extension of Paphos airport coincides at least with the noticeable improvement of the existing road.
