The construction of the Paphos Western Bypass, a project that will decongest the current marginal road traffic in the western low area of Paphos, is now on the rails for its implementation.
Information from "F" states that after the inclusion of the major project in the State Budget to start within 2027, the Department of Public Works is now preparing the construction plans which will be sent to the Department of Urban Planning and Housing for the final master plan in order to pre-dry the construction bids of the project.
The start of the preparatory works for the major project that will decongest the traffic problem throughout the western urban and peri-urban area of Paphos, is also confirmed by the demarches made by the Paphos MP of AKEL, Valentinos Fakontis. Mr. Fakontis told "F" that the project, which is experiencing a huge delay and concerns the section of the road from Phase A that was completed in February 2012 to the junction with Tombs of the Kings Avenue of this road, is in the preparatory stage of implementation and should now be dealt with in a way that prevents new delays and blockages.
Mr. Fakontis emphasizes that there is currently a serious problem in the access of the communities of western Paphos to the city of Paphos due to the dense traffic traffic, since essentially the only access to the center of Paphos is through the road in the Diplakartzia area. With the completion of this project, traffic in the area will be significantly alleviated, he observes, which is why it is considered so vital to promote it.
The MP of AKEL Paphos therefore calls on the government and the competent departments to move with a sense of urgency in order to complete all the necessary procedures for the promotion of the project of the Second Phase of the project.
