After the issuance of the six-day detention order against the monk who allegedly injured the technician-conservator of the Monastery of Agios Neophytos in Paphos and another monk with a sharp instrument, the Police continue to investigate the case by taking statements from people who were in the vicinity of the monk and the monastery in general. From the ongoing investigation of the case, more and more evidence and facts emerge about the background that on Friday led to the serious incident, at the heart of which is the disobedience that the 51-year-old monk has suddenly repeatedly shown in recent years.
According to information, the monk had been in the Monastery of Agios Neophytos for many years and his relations with the Abbot of the Monastery, but also with the other monks were good until about four years ago.
From this period of time, according to the same circles, the monk allegedly did not comply with the instructions of the Abbot, as a result of which their relations have reached the point of no return. There were not a few times, as people familiar with the data told "F", that the monk did not follow the program of the Monastery and the other monks.
Disobedience was allegedly the main element that led relations to the extreme and it seems that the Abbot had relied on this to put the 51-year-old on holiday several months ago.
By putting him on holiday, he did not participate in the Divine Liturgy and in any ritual or sacrament of the Church, despite the fact that he continued to live in the premises of the monastery, even keeping two cells, since one of them was used in the past by his father who lived in the Monastery as a layman, coming from Romania, receiving every help from the Monastery until the day of his death due to illness.
Finally, as it is informed, "F" the arrested person was not a simple monk, but also a deacon.
