MAJOR ROAD WORKS
Famagusta-Larnaca-Larnaca Airport Motorway
On the Larnaca Airport-Paralimni motorway, as well as the Larnaca-Kofinos and Larnaca-Nicosia motorways, during the period 27/07/2026-30/09/2026, from Monday to Thursday, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, irrigation works will be carried out on the slopes of the motorways in both directions by the Department of Forestry. During the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed, in sections of 300 meters at a time. Traffic will not be affected.
On the Larnaca Airport – Paralimni motorway, from 27/07/2026 to 30/09/2026, from Monday to Thursday, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, watering works will be carried out on the slopes of the motorway in both directions. On the Larnaca-Paralimni motorway, from Monday 24/08/2026 to Friday 28/08/2026, between the hours of 09:00 – 15:00, checks will be carried out on the installation of emergency doors on the central island. During the works, a section of the right lane adjacent to the central island lane will be closed, sequentially for a length of 100 meters each time, simultaneously in both directions.
Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway
On the Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway, as well as the Larnaca-Famagusta and Larnaca-Nicosia Motorways, during the period 27/07/2026-30/09/2026, from Monday to Thursday, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, watering works will be carried out on the slopes of the motorways in both directions by the Department of Forestry. During the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed, in sections of 300 meters each time. Traffic will not be affected.

On the old Larnaca - Kofinou road, during the period from Tuesday 4/8/2026 to Friday 28/8/2026, daily except weekends and summer holidays (17-21/8/2026), pipeline construction works will be carried out by the Water Development Department. During the above period, a section of the road between the villages of Angleisidon and Kofinou will be closed for a length of approximately 100 meters, at three simultaneous points, and traffic will be diverted to an adjacent lane using traffic lights.
On the Larnaca-Kofinou motorway, from Monday 24/08/2026 until Friday 28/08/2026, between the hours of 09:00 – 15:00, checks will be made on the installation of emergency doors on the central island. On the Larnaca-Nicosia motorway, in the section from the Rizoelia roundabout to the exit to Nisou and vice versa, from Monday 31/08/2026 until Thursday 10/09/2026, daily, except weekends and Fridays, between the hours of 09:00-14:30, watering works will be carried out on the central island by the Forestry Department. During the works, the right lane adjacent to the central island of the motorway will be closed from one direction for a length of 1.5 km. at a time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.
On the Nicosia-Larnaca motorway, from Monday 24/08/2026 until Thursday 10/09/2026, except Fridays and Saturdays from 08:30am until 14:00pm, pruning and cleaning works will be carried out on the central island of the motorway. During the works, the right lane adjacent to the traffic of the central island, for a length of approximately 2,000m each time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lanes.
On the Larnaca-Nicosia motorway, from Monday 24/08/2026 until Friday 28/08/2026, between the hours of 09:00 – 15:00, checks will be made on the installation of emergency doors on the central island. During the works, a section of the right lane adjacent to the central island lane will be closed, sequentially for a length of 100m each time, simultaneously from both directions.
Limassol-Nicosia Motorway
On the Nicosia - Limassol Motorway, from the GSP roundabout to the junction with the Nicosia - Larnaca Motorway (A2) in both directions from Wednesday 08/07/2026 to Wednesday 30/09/2026, daily except weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30 - 15:00, the Department of Forestry will periodically carry out watering works for plants on the slopes and embankments.
Nicosia-Kokkinotrimithia-Akaki Motorway
On the Nicosia-Denia Motorway, from the Archangelos interchange to the Kokkinotrimithia roundabout in both directions, from Wednesday 08/07/2026 to Wednesday 30/09/2026, daily except weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30 – 15:00, the Forestry Department will periodically carry out watering works for plants on the slopes and slopes.
Nicosia District
In Nicosia and Aglantzia, as part of the project “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia”, works lasting 24 months are underway from 20 February 2025, and are expected to be completed by 22 February 2027. Specifically, they include Famagusta Avenue from its junction with Kalavryton Street to the Sopaz roundabout, approximately 1.7 km long and a secondary road network approximately 0.8 km long, consisting of a section of Kalavryton, Paphos, Madaris and Semelis streets.
On the interurban road Astromeritis-Karvounas-Troodos, beyond the Community of Evrychou, from Monday 24/08/2026 until Friday 18/09/2026, daily except weekends and holidays, between the hours of 07:00 – 17:00, excavation works will be carried out to install a water supply pipeline. During the works, one lane of traffic in the direction of Troodos will be closed for a section of approximately 100 meters and traffic will be diverted to the other lane, with the use of temporary traffic lights.
In Lythrodontas, on Monday 24/08/2026 and Tuesday 25/08/2026, from 07:00 in the morning until 15:00 in the afternoon, periodic maintenance work will be carried out on sections of the roadway of Archiepiskopou Makariou III Street, in the direction from Mathiatis to Lythrodontas, with a total length of approximately 650m. During the works, one lane of the road towards Lythrodontas will be closed in sections (100 meters at a time) and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane, using stop & go and appropriate signage.
On the Tembria-Galata-Kakopetria road, on Monday 24/08/2026 and Tuesday 25/08/2026, from 07:00 in the morning until 15:00 in the afternoon, periodic maintenance work will be carried out on sections of the road surface, with a total length of approximately 1 km. During the works, a section of the Tembria-Galata-Kakopetria road will be closed from the junction with Alexandria Street to the junction with Michael Karaoli Street, with a total length of approximately 1 km in both directions, and traffic will be diverted via Alexandria Street and Michael Karaoli Street.
On the Tembria-Galata-Kakopetria road, on Wednesday 26/08/2026, from 07:00 in the morning until 15:00 in the afternoon, periodic maintenance works will be carried out on sections of the road surface of the Tembria – Galata – Kakopetria road. During the works, a section of the road near the Church of the Holy Cross, with a total length of approximately 500 meters in both directions, will be closed and traffic will be diverted via Archbishop Makarios III Street.
On the Tembria-Galata-Kakopetria road, on Thursday 27/08/2026, from 07:00 in the morning until 15:00 in the afternoon, periodic maintenance works will be carried out on sections of the road surface. During the works, a section of the road from the junction with Agias Paraskevis Street to the junction with Archiepiskopou Makariou G’ Street will be closed, with a total length of approximately 500 meters in both directions, and traffic will be diverted via Agias Paraskevis Street and Archiepiskopou Makariou G’ Street.
Periodic maintenance work will be carried out on sections of the road on the Tempria-Galata-Kakopetria road on Friday 28/08/2026 and Monday 31/08/2026, from 07:00 in the morning until 15:00 in the afternoon. During the works, a section of the road from the junction with Giannou Kranidioti Street up to the junction with Agatheris Street, with a total length of approximately 500 meters in both directions and traffic will be channelled via Giannou Kranidioti Street and Agatheris Street.
Limassol District
In Limassol, the traffic lights at the junction of Limassol Coastal Road with Makarios III Avenue (Enaeriou Traffic Lights) were out of service due to a technical problem. The repair of the damage is expected to be completed on Monday 24/08/2026. Temporary signage has been placed at the point to guide drivers, who are urged to follow the relevant instructions. It is noted that a Traffic Light System is installed at this junction, which continues to record only speeding violations.
On the Limassol – Troodos road near the Tall Tree, from Monday 24/08/2026 until Wednesday 23/12/2026, a private company will be carrying out construction work on a retaining wall with an integrated lifting grid for existing walls. During the works, one lane of traffic will be closed for a length of approximately 100 m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane using temporary traffic lights.
On sections of the Limassol - Nicosia and Limassol - Paphos Motorway, from the Skarinou exit to the Petra tou Romiou exit in both directions, from Monday 17/8/2026 to Thursday 27/8/2026, except Fridays and weekends, between the hours of 20:00 in the evening and 5:30 in the morning of the next day, safety barrier replacement work will be carried out. During the execution of the work, the express lane of the Motorway will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 200 m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.
Larnaca District
On Dimitras Avenue, in Larnaca, from Friday 17/07/2026 to Friday 21/08/2026, works will be carried out to replace a pipe culvert and construct sidewalks, as part of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”. During the works, a section of the avenue will remain closed to traffic. As for the section of Dimitras Street, from the junction of Dimitras Street with Apollonos Street, this will be converted into a dead end and entry will be allowed only to business customers.
On the Larnaca Airport – Paralimni, Larnaca – Kofinou and Larnaca – Nicosia motorways of the Larnaca District, during the period 27/07/2026 – 30/09/2026, from Monday to Thursday, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, watering works will be carried out on the slopes of the motorways in both directions, by the Department of Forestry. During the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed, in sections of 300 meters at a time. Traffic will not be affected.
On Nikos Pattihis Avenue, from Tuesday 04/08/2026 until Monday 24/08/2026, as part of the project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, construction works of sidewalks and crossings will be carried out. The works will be carried out on a section of approximately 200 meters in length. During the works, in the direction from the Kamares Roundabout to the Center of Larnaca, the left lane of traffic will remain closed on a section of Nikos Pattihis Avenue, from the intersection with Mystra Street to the photo-controlled intersection near the Central Fire Station. Vehicle traffic will be carried out via the right lane. In addition, left turns from Nikos Pattihis Avenue to Grivas Digenis Avenue will not be allowed for vehicles moving from the Kamares Roundabout to the City Center.
In Larnaca, at the intersection of Grivas Digenis Avenue and Giannos Kranidiotis Avenue, from Monday 10/08/2026 to Monday 24/08/2026, sidewalk construction works will be carried out, as part of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”. The works will be carried out on a section of approximately 50 meters in length. Vehicles heading towards the City Centre will not be allowed to make a left turn from Griva Digeni Avenue to Giannou Kranidioti Avenue during the works. Access to Giannou Kranidioti Avenue will be via Agios Georgios Kontou Street and Olympos Street, with the help of appropriate temporary road markings.
In Larnaca, on Omirou Street in Aradippou, from Wednesday 12/08/2026 to Friday 21/08/2026 excluding weekends, as part of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, sidewalk construction works will be carried out at the intersection of Omirou Street and Kyriakou Matsi Avenue. The works will be carried out in sections, over a section of approximately 20 meters in length. During the execution of the works, part of the traffic lane will be occupied, and traffic will be channeled through the remaining available section of the lane, with the use of appropriate temporary road markings and the necessary safety measures at the affected points.
