Coordinated operations by the Anti-Narcotics Service, in collaboration with the Paphos Information Management and Analysis Service, resulted in the arrest of two persons for drug cases, while a third person was arrested for assaulting members of the Police.
Specifically, yesterday, in the context of evaluating and investigating information concerning persons allegedly involved in the possession and trafficking of narcotic substances, members of YKAN and YDAP Paphos carried out searches in three houses and a premises in the province of Paphos.
The first search was carried out at the home of a 35-year-old, where the sum of €42,500 in cash, 345 British pounds, 40 Danish kroner, a quantity of cannabis with a gross weight of 89 grams, 1.133 ecstasy tablets and 90 capsules of anabolic substances were located and confiscated.
The 35-year-old was arrested for flagrante delicto, while in a subsequent search of his vehicle, an additional amount of cannabis, with a gross weight of five grams, was located and confiscated, as a result of which he was rearrested. The 35-year-old is expected to appear before the Paphos District Court today for the issuance of a detention order.
In a second search, at the home of a 40-year-old woman, a quantity of cannabis weighing 3.4696 grams was found and confiscated. The 40-year-old was arrested for a self-inflicted crime and was taken to the offices of YKAN Paphos where she was interrogated. He was then charged in writing and then released, so that he could later be summoned before a court.
Regarding the third search, which was carried out in the house of a 35-year-old, during the entry of the members of YKAN and YDAP into the residence, the 35-year-old began to insult the members of the Police and attacked two of them. As a result, he was arrested for flagrante delicto. From the searches that followed in the house and in the premises he maintains in Paphos, nothing illegal was found.
As a result of the attack, the two members of the Police were injured and taken to Paphos General Hospital, where they received first aid and were then discharged.

Members of the Polis Chrysochous Police Station in collaboration with members of the Paphos Customs Department, yesterday conducted a search of a property owned by a 47-year-old Syrian in Istanbul, after evaluating evidence, in the context of cracking down on the illegal possession of duty-free tobacco products.
During the investigation, the following were found: 25 boxes containing 200 cigarettes each, 2 kilograms and 650 grams of tobacco for handmade cigarettes, 3 kilograms and 250 grams of hookah tobacco, as well as 3 boxes of 200 heated cigarettes.
From an inspection carried out, it was found that all the above tobacco products were duty-free. The 47-year-old owner of the premises was arrested for a self-inflicted offense, while an out-of-court fine was issued against him by the officials of the Customs Department, which he paid on the same day and was released.

Members of the Nicosia OPE, after a relevant evaluation of data, carried out a search this morning by virtue of a court warrant at the home of a 60-year-old man in Nicosia, in the context of cracking down on the illegal possession and trade of duty-free tobacco products.
During the investigation, the following were identified:
- 361 boxes of cigarettes
- 68 packs of cigarettes
- 595 grams of pipe tobacco
- 30 cigars
- 1,400 cigarillos
- One kilogram of cigarette smoke
- 111 boxes of heated cigarettes
The 60-year-old was arrested for a self-inflicted offense while the tobacco products were confiscated by officials of the Customs Department. Subsequently, both the 60-year-old and the confiscated goods were taken to the offices of the Customs Department, which undertook the investigation of the case.

A brutal beating of a person took place in the afternoon in Limassol, in the middle of the road in the area of Agios Athanasios.

Six persons were arrested during targeted preventive operations of the Police that took place on the night of Friday to Saturday on a nationwide basis, with the aim of preventing serious criminal actions and ensuring public order.
According to the Police, the arrests related to various offenses, including illegal possession of drugs, illegal stay in the Republic of Cyprus, speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol.
As part of the operations, 637 drivers and 233 passengers were stopped and checked, while 74 inspections of premises were carried out at the same time, from which 15 complaints emerged.

During the traffic checks, a total of 321 complaints were made for various violations, while 17 more investigated cases of traffic offenses emerged.
Of the complaints, 82 stand out for exceeding the speed limit, while 13 vehicles were detained as part of the police examinations.
At the same time, 450 alcohol tests were carried out, from which 24 complaints emerged.

The Kofinos Police Station is investigating a case of negligent and reckless acts, after an incident at a gas station in a community in the province of Larnaca, during which two people were injured.
According to the data under investigation, around midnight from Friday to Saturday, two men aged 32 and 38, a Greek Cypriot and an English Cypriot respectively, visited a gas station.
While the 32-year-old was refueling his vehicle, the 38-year-old approached him, having an extinguished cigarette in his mouth.
The 38-year-old allegedly tried to light the cigarette with a lighter, causing an ignition.
The fire was extinguished by other persons who were at the scene, while the two men were taken to the Larnaca A&E department.
The 32-year-old received first aid and was then discharged, as he had minor burns.
The 38-year-old, however, was detained for treatment, after suffering second and third degree burns, mainly on the lower limbs.
The case is being investigated by the Kofinos Police Station.

For at least another six days, 43-year-old Alexei Sokpa, who is considered to be a member of the "Edik" group and is wanted for the murder of Vangelis Zampounis in Greece, will be detained by the pseudo-authorities.
