The average amount of rainfall that fell in the free areas from the 1st of the month until 9.00 in the morning of August 17 rose to 41% of the normal for August, according to preliminary data released on Monday by the Department of Meteorology.

The normal rainfall for the month is 2.9 mm, while the average total amount of precipitation recorded since the beginning of the month amounted to 1.2 mm, corresponding to 41% of the normal amount.

During the last three days, according to the data of the Department, the largest amount of rainfall occurred in Platania and Saittas with 13.2 and 13.9 mm respectively, while the total average amount of rainfall amounted to 1.1 mm.

Regarding the total amount of rainfall from the 1st to the 9.00 in the morning of August 17, the largest amount was recorded in Saittas 13.9 mm (103% of normal), in Platania with 13.2 mm (96% of normal), in Athienou with 9 mm (360% of normal) and in Lythrodontas with 7 mm (233% of normal).
