APOSTOLOS PAVLOS AT THE SERVICE OF TOURISM PAPHOS

APOSTOLOS PAVLOS AT THE SERVICE OF TOURISM PAPHOS  - Filenews 25/8 by Dora Christodoulou

The involvement of tourism and academic bodies of Paphos with religious tourism in recent years, the participation of the province in European programs for this subject and especially the upcoming meeting of the Archbishop of Cyprus George with Pope Leo for the transfer of the holy skull of the Apostle Paul to Paphos, creates the well-founded expectations that with the new year Paphos will be able to establish itself as an important destination for religious tourism in an international level.
This assessment was made by tourism operators of the province speaking to "F", emphasizing the importance of Paphos' activity in the respective European forums. These European steps, they said, aim to develop and promote policies and products related to religious, spiritual and pilgrimage tourism in various destinations in Europe, with a view to sustainability, digitalization, innovation and resilience.

These are actions and areas in which Paphos has already made significant progress in recent years, they pointed out, which they estimate puts the destination in an advantageous position for the implementation of its targeting.

A leading position in these pursuits and actions, they concluded, is now held by the expected exit for the first time of the Holy Skull of the Apostle Paul from the Vatican to Paphos and the effort made by Paphos so that the route in the footsteps of the Apostle Paul is registered in the Council of Europe.
