The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow warning for extremely high temperature for today, Friday, July 17.

The warning will take effect at 14:00 and will last until 16:30.

According to the Department of Meteorology, the maximum temperature inside is expected to rise to around 40 degrees Celsius.

Seasonal low pressure affects the area.

Today, the weather will be generally mostly clear, however gradually there will be locally increased clouds, which in the mountainous areas after noon are likely to give isolated rains. Winds will initially be marine and locally variable, light, 3 Beaufort, to gradually become mainly southwest to northwest, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort and on the coast in the afternoon moderate to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be generally calm to a little rough and temporarily in the afternoon in the windward a little rough. The temperature will rise to around 40 degrees inland, around 32 on the west and southwest coasts, around 34 on the rest of the coasts and around 29 degrees in the higher mountains.

Tonight the weather will remain generally mostly clear, while later there will be increased low clouds, mainly on the coasts. Later and during the morning hours, it is possible that thin fog or fog will form locally, mainly in areas to the south and east. The winds will gradually become downhill, weak, 3 Beaufort and the sea will be generally calm to a little rough. The temperature will drop to around 24 degrees inland and on the coasts and around 20 degrees in the higher mountains.

On Saturday, Sunday and Monday, the weather in most areas of the island will be mostly clear with temporarily increased clouds, however clouds that will develop in the mountains after noon are expected to give isolated rains or even a storm.

The temperature until Monday is not expected to change appreciably, to continue to fluctuate at levels above normal for the season.
