The institution of the Technical High School, which was implemented last year for the first time on a pilot basis in a school in Nicosia and in one in Limassol, has been extended since September, following today's decision of the Council of Ministers.
Specifically, from the new school year, both Paphos and free Famagusta will have a Technical High School.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Education, Athena Michailidou, after the end of today's session of the Council of Ministers.
"Today's decision implements another important commitment of the Government and the President of the Republic himself for the continuous upgrading of Technical and Vocational Education, which is a key pillar of the modern education system that meets the needs of modern society and the labour market. Our vision for the creation of the Technical High School is progressing normally with very good results. The evaluation of the pilot implementation of the previous school year allows us to proceed with the expansion. The successful pilot implementation and the positive response of students and teachers shows that it is a reform that has been embraced by society and responds to an existing educational and social need. So today we take the next step. We are expanding the institution, we are giving the opportunity to more children from the age of 12 to become familiar with skills related to technical professions and new technologies, so that they can make better choices in the future", said the competent Minister.
