The issuance of the student loan instalment for the new academic year 2026/2027 begins on August 1, 2026, the Deputy Director of the Central Agency for Equal Burden Distribution (KFIKB) Giorgos Sophocleous told KYPE, calling on the beneficiaries to apply to the Housing Finance Organization (OXS) for the withdrawal of the amount. At the same time, he noted that the submission of applications for the new academic continues.
At the same time, in relation to the number of applications for the first half of 2026, Mr. Sophocleous said that 317 applications for studies have been received, compared to 416 during the same period of 2025.
Regarding applications for mortgage interest rate subsidy, he said that for the first half of 2026, 506 applications have been received, compared to 559 applications in the same period of 2025.
In addition, he stated that for all application purposes for the first half of 2026, 969 applications have been received, compared to 1.031 during the same period of 2025.
The Deputy Director of the Agency urged the beneficiaries whose applications for a student loan "have already been examined and approved" by the Central Agency to apply from August 3, 2026 (since 1/8 is a Saturday) to the branches of the OXS in their province to withdraw the amount due to them for the academic year in question.
He added that for this purpose they will have to present or send to the OCHS their registration for 2026/2027, while for those who have not registered yet and this academic year is not the first year of study nor the last, they can present the results of the exams of the year that ended to withdraw the new instalment of their loan and as soon as they secure the registration to present it as well.
He also stated that for first-year students, the offer of the place is accepted, while for those who in 2026/2027 is the last year of study, the beneficiary will be able to get 50% of the instalment corresponding to the presentation of the results of the previous year until he presents his registration to get the remaining 50%.
Applications for the new academic year continue
At this point, Mr. Sophocleous said that the submission of applications for the new academic year 2026/2027 continues and the last date for this year is January 31, 2027.
"Applications can also be submitted by those who are already studying, but this year does not concern their first year of studies to cover the rest of the studies with a loan from the Central Agency," he noted.
He added that the beneficiaries for submitting an application to the KFIKB are those who are owners of occupied property either themselves, or their parents or grandparents, and even their uncles.
He stated that the amounts granted for studies, always depending on the value of the beneficiary's property, can cover annually, tuition fees where there are and maintenance costs depending on the country of study.
In particular, referring to the amounts, Mr. Sophocleous said that €11,000 concerns studies in the USA and Canada, €10,000 for studies in the United Kingdom, France and Italy, €8,000 for studies in Greece and the other countries that are not mentioned by name, €1,700 for studies in Military Schools of Greece, €5,000 for studies in Cyprus (study area different from the area of residence) and €2,500 for studies in Cyprus (study area same as the area of residence).
At the Ministry of Finance, support plan regulations, regulations are being prepared for "KtiZo"
In addition, Mr. Sophocleous told KYPE that the Ministry of Finance has assigned to the Central Agency the preparation of Regulations for the Special Plan for the Financial Support of Owners of Occupied or Inaccessible Properties from the utilization of the 0.4% fee paid in the event of a transfer by virtue of the sale of immovable property and/or shares of a company, which is not listed on any recognized Stock Exchange and which directly or indirectly owns real estate as well as any other revenue that may arise.
He added that the draft Regulations has been sent to the Ministry of Finance and is being processed.
He also stated that the Central Agency has been assigned the creation of Regulations for the Special Scheme for the Purpose of Lending to Potential Beneficiaries of the "KtiZo" Plan for the provision of loans by the Central Agency to beneficiaries in order to secure the amount they need to cover their contribution for the reconstruction of housing units.
"These Regulations are in the final stage of processing so that they can be sent to the Ministry of Finance for further action," he concluded.
